Professor William Slater Vincent

William Slater Vincent, Sr., J.D., M.B.A., B.A.; Since 2006 William has been on the faculty at Mercer University, Atlanta, Georgia, as an Assistant Professor of Management and Business Law.

Previously William was an Assistant Professor of Business Law and of Management & Entrepreneurship at Oglethorpe University, Georgia State University, and Kennesaw State University and a guest lecturer and research associate for the Goizueta School of Business, at Emory University.

In 1993, William joined the Kennesaw State University faculty as an Assistant Professor of Business Law at the Michael J. Coles College of Business, Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, Georgia.

Prior to Kennesaw State University, William was a guest lecturer and research associate for the Goizueta School of Business at Emory University.

William has a BA in Economics and Business Administration from Furman University and an MBA in Management and Finance and JD from Emory University.

Professor Vincents’ Expertise and Interest:

Professor Vincent, (and his associates), provide legal advice in the following areas of law: (1) Franchise Law, (2) Business/Corporate Law, (3) Entertainment Law, (4) Trust and (5) Estate Planning Law, (6) Trusts, (7) Wills, (8) Power of Attorneys, (9) Asset Protection, and (10) Elder Law.

His primary preferential areas of interest are entrepreneurship, franchise management, franchise law, business law, and trust and estate planning.

Professor Vincent is an editorial reviewer for the Journal of Marketing Channels.

In addition, Professor Vincent:

  • Has an active local law practice; specializing in trust and estate planning, business law and franchise law.
  • Has an active consulting practice in franchising and franchise law; assisting both franchisees and franchisers.
  • Has developed and teaches the courses in franchise management and in franchise law and, along with Dr. Tim Mescon, organized the Franchise Institute located at the University.
  • Has made numerous presentations to local, regional, national, and international audiences and published numerous articles in both trade and academic newspapers, magazines and journals in the fields of franchising and estate planning,

Professor Vincents’ Experience:

William is a licensed, actively practicing attorney and a member of the State Bar of Georgia, American Bar Association, National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, International Society of Franchising and the International Franchise Association where he serves on the franchise relations and the minorities in franchising committees.

In addition to his over 30 years of experience as an attorney, (and as council for a Governor of the State of Georgia), William worked with one of the nation’s largest law firms, (a Fortune 100 corporation), consulting with large, medium, small sized and even a few start up business ventures. In addition, he worked with state and federal governments in the areas of real estate, estate planning, labor, regulatory, environmental, asset protection, entertainment, corporate, contract, and franchise law… Professor Vincent has extensive and practical utilization of his management and finance background; as he presently serves on the Board of Directors of two international corporations.

William has made numerous specialized presentations to local, regional, national, and international audiences and has published numerous articles in trade and academic newspapers, magazines, and journals in the fields of franchising and estate planning. He is the Co-Author of the books, The Network Expansion Conflict Handbook – Developing A Successful Solution and Achieving Wealth Through Franchising. Also, he has reviewed, written chapters for, and edited six additional books on Franchising.

William is a ‘special advisor’ to several past and current members of Congress.

supremeIn addition to being an actively practicing attorney, William is a member of (1) the State Bar of Georgia, (2) the American Bar Association, (3) Voting Member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, (4) International Society of Franchising, and (5) the International Franchise Association where he serves on the Franchise Relations Committee.

Professor William Vincent is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, where he made his first Supreme Court appearance in 2004.
